I think we all did with the new upgrade. So, I'll post my current character build here and ask you all what I should do with her to make it so I don't go boom every 5 seconds. Any help you can offer would be very helpful. I am at a point right now where I can face the entire flagship fleet of a Romulan deepspace encounter alone without blowing up. I'd like to be able to shoot down Borg ships more quickly in an STF and survive a lot longer. I've noticed that about one in ten torpedoes miss so I think my accuracy is okay. And I know, a big part of why I'm so squishy is because of my ship, my shields and I'm not using keybinds yet.

First look at your tiers, you are spending 80k skill points on your lt. rank skills which caps at 33k, thats a ton you go over a bit here and there generally but thats way too much. Driver coil has a few benefits if you intend on playing heavy slow turning ships it gets a bit more attractive for the turn rate increase, but its a skill you put a few points in or skip it entirely simply because those points are better elsewhere. Starship batteries, is a skill pool that is almost universally shunned, there are few builds out there with certain setups that use batteries as an intregal part of their buff cycle but it a skill you again skip or put maybe a few points in. Electro plasma systems improve your power transfer rate, any time you dump power out of one system into another that pool refills faster with increased rate, it is a fairly good skill to get some points in. Another thing is Internal dampeners is a skill that is worth getting points into for drains and offline systems protection if you pvp it is almost a must to have a couple points in. Look at your power in your ship if you are hitting maxed out power in you ship weapons systems there is a point where all these + weapons energy skills overcap each other and gain you jack squat for your points invested. So your energy weapons spec is almost always more important to dps than that weapons performance. Also if you watch your tier spending and try to keep it close to the actual caps you will be able to max one skill at ra rank and have several others sitting at 3 and 4 or spend those points on lower tier stuff. I would say ground you got too much in i tend to spend the bare min tho and i hate ground combat in general, but something else to think about how much do you enjoy the grounds stuff, how effective you geel you are and some of the reputation traits can buff some ground skills allowing you to put them points other places when you have those buffs unlocked and traited. also go here www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/clock "find a build" and take a look as science officer builds on there my outlook is a tac captain that cross flies cruisers and escorts so you might need other stuff for sci damage, alot of people misspec sci abilies, and i am no expert on that front. Also just found this link. home.comcast.net/~amicus/Skill%20Point%20Effects.htmgive a beakdown of what exactly your points do.
