In accordance with Ferengi Rule Of Acquisition #74, Knowledge Equals Profit, I have put together this little guide on the best ways to earn in-game currency for new players and players who just might need a little help building their financial empires. This will cover Energy Credits, Dilithium, Zen, Fleet Credits, Gold-Pressed Latinum, and Lobi Crystals.
Energy Credits (EC)
Tour The Universe Event
This event, granted by Captain Yim in Club 47 at ESD, is a really fast way of earning EC in one hour. A full thread of suggestions on the best way of running this event is already available at storevelationfleet.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rfa&action=display&thread=205. Once you get the hang of it and get your ship as fast as you can, it is completely possible to earn over 1,000,000EC in the hour the event runs.
Farming
Note: Farming is frowned upon by some players due to the fact that you are not playing the game as intended to earn EC. However, it is not a violation of Perfect World's TOS and not an exploit of the game. Therefore, I am including it in this guide. It is your decision to farm or not, and I am not trying to influence you to farm.
To farm for EC, you will be running a foundry mission that is setup in a way to quickly and easily destroy ships to get their item drops. You will then sell all the drops on the exchange to make EC. Then simply rinse and repeat until you hit your foundry item drop cap for the day. The best mission for farming is "Farm 101 ESD" by carrissra. If you run it 2 times, you will hit your daily cap for foundry item drops. Make sure you have an empty inventory (or close to empty) because there are alot of item drops. With some lucky drops, you can earn 500,000EC in about 20 minutes. (Once everything sells on the exchange)
Running PvE Missions
This works basically the same as the farming, except there is no item drop cap. The best mission, if you are only going for item drops, is to run Starbase 24. The amount of EC you will earn all depends on how long you are running PvE for and how lucky you get with the item drops.
Get Your Keys Here!
A good way to get EC is to sell Lock Box Keys. First you get the Keys from the Z-Store by either outright buying Zen Points or by following the "Convert Dilithium Into Zen" instructions further down this post. Each key will sell for between 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 EC.
Dilithium
Convert Zen Into Dilithium
One of the fastest ways to get Refined Dilithium is by exchanging Zen for it on the Dilithium Exchange. You get to this by bringing up your inventory tab, clicking assets, clicking exchange under Dillithium, and choosing Buy Dilithium. Remember the golden rule of the Dilithium Exchange... Buy Low, Sell High!
PvE Missions
When you run certain PvE mission, you will receive a small amount of Dilithium Ore as part of your reward. Just ask a fleet member if the mission you want to run rewards Dillithium Ore, or check the rewards before you join. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Foundry Missions
When you complete a foundry mission that is eligible for rewards, you will receive Dilithium Ore. The amount is based on the average time of play for that mission. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Duty Officer Assignments
Duty Officer Assignments, located in the Duty Officer Window below your mini-map, reward Dilithium Ore upon successful completion. The amount depends on the mission and whether you get a "Success" or "Critical Success". Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Ongoing Diplomatic Efforts
Note: This is only available to Level 50 Characters
In the New Romulus Reputation system, you can trade in Romulan Marks for Dilithium Ore. When you select "Ongoing Diplomatic Efforts" in the Upgrades Available list, you can trade 50 Romulan Marks for 500 Dilithium Ore. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Elite Special Task Force Completion
Note: This is only available to Level 50 Characters
In the Task Force Omega Reputation system, you can trade in Borg Neural Processors for Dilithium Ore. When you select "Elite Special Task Force Completion" in the Upgrades Available list, you can trade 5 Borg Neural Processors for 1,00 Dilithium Ore. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Ongoing War Efforts
Note: This is only available to Level 50 Characters
In the Task Force Omega Reputation system, you can trade in Omega Marks for Dilithium Ore. When you select "Ongoing War Efforts" in the Upgrades Available list, you can trade 50 Omega Marks for 500 Dilithium Ore. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Academy Event
When this event is active, you can visit Starfleet Academy to help the Cadets with their studies by collecting Particle Traces that are scattered around the campus. At the end of the event, you talk to Professor Meyer to turn in the Particle Traces for Dilithium Ore. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Asteroid Mining
Note: This is only available to Level 9+ Characters
Every 20 hours, you can run "Asteriod Mining" in the Vlugta Asteroid Field near Bajor (Beta Urase Sector Block) and play 5 mini-games to earn Dilithium Ore. The amount you get depends on the number of points earned in each mini-game, and the amount increases when you do this mission during the Asteroid Mining event. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Explore Strange New Worlds
Every 20 hours, you can hail Lt. Grall in the Available Missions tab and run Explore "Strange New Worlds" for 1,140 Dilithium Ore. All you need to do is go into a star cluster (i.e. Afheirr Nebula, Eridan Belt, etc...) and explore three systems. This will only take 10-15 minutes. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Aiding The Deferi
Note: This is only available after completing the "Breen Front" Episode Series
Every 20 hours, you can hail Ambassador Surah in the Available Missions tab and run "Aiding The Deferi" for 1,140 Dilithium Ore. When you go to the Orellius Sector Block (accessable through the Beta Urase and Eta Eridani Sector Blocks), you will have 3 mini-missions to complete, all of which are defending the Deferi from Breen attacks. This takes between 10 and 20 minutes to complete. Don't forget, you can only refine 8,000 Dilithium Ore a day, but you can collect an unlimited amount of Ore.
Zen
Just Buy It
By far, the easiest way of earning any currency in the game is just by buying Zen with real-life money. If you put $20.00 USD into your PWE account, you can get 2,000 Zen in-game. A first-time buyer's guide is available at billing.perfectworld.com/faq.
Convert Dilithium Into Zen
Another way to get Zen is by exchanging Refined Dilithium for it on the Dilithium Exchange. You get to this by bringing up your inventory tab, clicking assets, clicking exchange under Dillithium, and choosing Sell Dilithium. Remember the golden rule of the Dilithium Exchange... Buy Low, Sell High!
Fleet Credits
Contribute To Fleet Projects
When you contribute to any Fleet Projects (i.e Starbase and Embassy Projects), you will be rewarded with Fleet Credits. The amount all depends on the item you are contributing and how much of it you are contributing.
Gold-Pressed Latinum (GPL)
Selling Prototype Consoles
If you ever find yourself with a prototype console, you can sell it to the Ferengi Collectors on Earth Spacedock, Deep Space Nine, and Drozana Station for GPL.
Gold-Pressed Latinum Packages
You can buy Gold-Pressed Latinum Packages on the Exchange. When opened, you will receive a random amount of GPL.
Dabo
You can win GPL by gambling EC's while playing Dabo at Deep Space Nine and Drozana Station. The Holographic Leeta will explain to you how to play. Just remember one thing when you make your bet... Rule of Acquisition #62: The riskier the road, the greater the profit.
Lobi Crystals
Lock Boxes
You receive a random number of Lobi Crystals when you open a lock box.
Featured Episode Re-Runs
During a Featured Episode Re-Run event, there are hidden Lobi Crystals hidden in each mission. Check your events tab or on the official Star Trek Online site to find out when a Featured Episode Re-Run will be coming up.
Hopefully this will help you guys earn more currency each day! If you have any other suggestions to people on how to earn more, feel free to post them below and don't forget Rule of Acquisition #75, "Home Is Where The Heart Is, But The Stars Are Made Of Latinum."
